Timber architecture with a Vision

Reisinger Kutscher are known for their sensitive approach to existing buildings. In Mattsee (Salzburg), however, it became clear that a new construction was the best solution. Replacing a small holiday house from the 1960s—neither heated nor insulated—a new building with three residential units was created.
The design draws inspiration from its surroundings, reinterpreting regional building traditions in a contemporary way through its form and appearance. The traditional slatted façade is revisited in its classic cladding style, while the timber façade extends seamlessly over the roof, giving the building a distinctive and cohesive presence.
Even as a new construction, the project represents a conscious use of resources. Regional materials, short supply routes, and resource-efficient timber construction are the main issues of sustainability. The façade is made of rough-sawn Douglas fir sourced from the Innviertel region, lending the building a natural character and reinforcing its regional identity. Inside, spruce walls create a calm and warm material atmosphere.
